The SA76G2 has been much awaited by many AMD fan as Shuttle continues to provide the most enrgy efficient and small form factor systems. But is it what everyone was expecting. Well lets start by taking a look at the exterior. As you can see by the above images Shuttle has continued to use their now well know and recognizable G2 Chassis. In the image above you can also see the back panel, and surprisingly enough it came as a very cut down version compared to the previous models, such as SN68SG2. From looking at the back we can clearly see Shuttle decided to change from 7.1 Audio to a more standard 2.1 Audio. They also appeared to have removed the eSATA ports as well as the firewire port. At first I was shocked and worried to see what had happened but then realized the selling price and now it make sense, compared to the previous model (SN68SG2) the street price started at $194 compared to the $240 price tag. Although the options removed do seem disappointing, It didn’t affect my opinion as I usually choose to use my own Creative Sound card and as for the other opinions well really they were great but can easily be replaced. I would much rather buy en external hub for $10 than pay and additional $40. I think Shuttle did a very good job in determining what the average consumer will need, their effort to cut cost for the consumer is clearly seen in their latest model now let see if they did the same with performance.
Specifications:
A great highlight is the ATI Radeon 3000 onboard graphics that is DirectX-10 compatible and allows for up to four monitors. I my self added in a HD4350 and it worked great together with the onboard to power my 3 monitors. Now looking at the benchmarks they look about the same as any similar board with the same specs. Nothing too fancy when it came to that but for the size it still continues to be one of the smallest AMD solutions out their using this chipset and configuration.
